In the Centre Hastings school group, a focus on communicating our thinking in mathematics has supported our students in increasing their engagement and achievement. By setting classroom conditions that support collaborative learning, students were able to find their voice in the math classroom.

Since 2008-2009, the Grade 9 applied math course pass rate has increased from 90.2% to 100%. The 2012-2013 Grade 9 academic math course pass rates is also 100%.
Grade 9 EQAO Math
At Centre Hastings Secondary School, the percentage of Grade 9 students meeting the provincial standard in the Grade 9 applied EQAO provincial assessment has improved from 46% in 2008-2009 to 75% in 2012-2013, an increase of 29 percentage points. The school has also made gains in Grade 9 academic EQAO results, with an increase from 73% in 2008-2009 to 85% in 2012-2013.
